Areas of Practice
Miller Black Associates is a boutique retained executive search and coaching firm. We specialize in helping clients attract, develop and retain mid and senior level talent across functions, with particular expertise in human resources and other corporate enabling functions.
The quality and reputation of our search practice is the result of over 30 years of experience gained at two top tier global executive search firms. We adapt our service offering to the unique needs of our clients across a range of industries. We also offer unbundled search services such as research, candidate development, assessment, candidate pipeline and reference checks. Diversity is an important focus. From time to time, we also take on special projects advising organizations on their talent acquisition strategies and capabilities.
In addition to the executive search practice, Miller Black Associates also has an executive coaching practice following the process and approach of the Columbia University Coaching Program. Specialties include on-boarding, new in role, high potential development, performance coaching, and career transitions.
Executive Search
Miller Black Associates is dedicated to delivering the highest quality executive search and recruiting services. The firm works on a retainer basis so that it can fully dedicate its resources to a small number of client searches at any given time. While we handle senior executive searches, typically “C-Suite,” we are also interested in handling searches for emerging executives, at the level just below the minimum fees of the large global search firms.
Executive Coaching
Joanna Miller has a long track record coaching executives on issues related to career transitions, career planning, on-boarding, team building, succession planning, performance enhancement and skill and competency development. She previously led a management assessment practice for a major human capital firm. Joanna has been trained in the Columbia University Coaching Certification Program. The Columbia Approach to Executive and Organizational coaching is theoretically grounded in the Science of Human Performance and is based on three coaching foundations of: (1) guiding principles, (2) coaching competencies, and (3) a three-phased coaching process (Jackson 1991 & Maltbia 2001). This multidisciplinary approach to coaching emphasizes integrating theory with practice drawing from psychology, neuroscience, organization development, business management, and leadership research. Offerings include:
